Protect Monterey Park. Vote YES on Measure NDC to ban data centers
This work began as a conversation between concerned neighbors. We chose to live in this City because we saw a future for ourselves and our families in Monterey Park. To protect that future, we organized ourselves to fight data centers — to fight pollution, cost of living increases, and outsiders running our City.
A data center ban means we will protect our community for decades to come, for current and future generations. Monterey Park is leading the San Gabriel Valley in the effort to prevent data centers. Passing a ban is a powerful way to support our neighbors across the region.
This campaign is led by and for Monterey Park residents, not outside or corporate interests. We are a 100% grassroots campaign.

What is at stake?
A data center is a heavy industrial facility that stands to harm our community.
Data centers are large, industrial-scale facilities that house servers and digital infrastructure to power cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), streaming services, and other online platforms.
In recent years, their size and number have expanded, with massive warehouse-style buildings constructed across urban, suburban, and industrial areas nationwide.
These facilities require enormous amounts of electricity and water, and often operate around the clock, relying on extensive cooling systems and backup generators.
The costs to residents would be enormous.
A data center project could potentially:
Use the equivalent electricity of 40,000 homes annually
Require 10 million gallons of water per year for cooling
Include 24 backup diesel generators whose operation would pollute air in the community
Create 24/7 noise which stands to cause health issues for anyone within
Data centers could increase utility bills and cause poor public health.
We need a data center ban NOW.
We are at a critical moment. The City of Monterey Park has placed a temporary pause on data centers, but it will not last. We need voters to vote YES on Measure NDC to ensure long-lasting protections against data centers.
A ballot measure is an effective and legally durable way to ban data centers in Monterey Park. It gives residents the power to ban data centers through binding law that can only be changed by another vote of the people.
